Was it beauty’s fate to be
The pawn of serendipity?
Was she made as mild as milk
With skin as white and soft as silk
With auburn hair and emerald eyes
Just to be a nice surprise?
Was she put upon the earth
As a toy of fate from birth
So that a prince of bold descent
Might find her out by ‘accident’?
Might take her to his castle cold
And keep her there til she grew old
Perhaps that was the master plan
But beauty ain’t the toy of man
And she a meeting engineered
With a lively dwarf with a silky beard….
