Greasy Spoon

Steamy widow, warmth and chatter
Smell of chips and fish in batter
Children eat with sticky faces
In the friendliest of places
On a corner down an ally
Where the tourists never sally
Mrs Min is grey and skinny
For a menu read her pinny
Doughnuts hot and oozing jam
Fed to toddlers in their prams
In a town of flashy places
This the only sane oasis
This the place to rest your feet
Down a half-forgotten street
Steamy window cappuccino
Husband hates it, what does he know?
