Assumptions

I’m sorry I’m not who you thought I was
When you first met and got to know me
I guess you just made some assumptions
based on the face that you see.

You built for yourself a card-castle
Of things you’d expect me to be
To fit in the frame of your world view
So I’d not be a challenge – or three.

You couldn’t reshape the way in your mind
Someone like me you did view
Notions you have of how I should behave
And of all the things I should do

But I won’t be bound by your prejudice
For that is what it is, that’s true
And now you are left to discriminate
Just quite what that says about you…
