You shake your head and look so smug
You vow to breathe it never
That little word you overheard
That makes you feel so clever
Your neighbour’s secret, feeble lies
Are now laid bare before your eyes
To grasp them to your bosom close
Just makes you feel so warm
To hold a secret in your hands
So capable of harm
Your smirking smile, your baleful face
Bode ill for someone, spell disgrace
But as you whisper as you hint
And slyly lift the lid
You ought to hope that your own sins
Are rather better hid
